Black Pig Retreats offers three luxurious Safari tents for glamping overlooking the Blackmore Vale in Dorset. Each tent is designed to make your stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible with wood-burning stoves, hot running water and king-sized beds. Curl up in front of the fire with a mug of tea and a good book, or relax in the sunshine on the large deck looking out over the countryside. There’s something for everyone to do with woods, meadows and fields to explore as well as a shallow brook that runs through the farm creating endless possibilities for adventure.

Located on Bittles Brook Farm home to a few horses with the addition of some sheep, chickens and our two Large Black Pigs, Beauty and Belle, who inspired the name: ‘Black Pig Retreats’. We are blessed with an idyllic location, beautiful views and peaceful surroundings that we want to share with visitors.

MURCIANO SAFARI TENT – Sleeping up to 6 people
Murciano is one of our largest safari tents with a spacious deck and living area. Cuddle up on a chilly evening in front of the wood-burning stove or enjoy the warm weather overlooking the glorious Dorset countryside. You could also try your hand at outdoor cooking using Murciano’s private fire-pit.

MUKOTA SAFARI TENT – Sleeps 4
Escape your daily routine in this beautiful, rustic safari tent?. Set in a secluded meadow and includes

• The kitchen is fully equipped with a small fridge-freezer, a wood-fired oven, gas hob and a sink with hot running water

• A unique bathroom, a beautiful converted horse trailer with hot shower, loo and sink

OUTSIDE
Open the canvas onto the veranda to really bring the outdoors in and experience outdoor living at its finest. Relax on one of the sun loungers with your favourite book, or explore the brook that runs alongside the meadow.

PLEASE NOTE: Mukota shares the meadow with our beautiful Straw Bothy where regular pilates and yoga classes take place. These classes are quiet and will not disrupt your stay, but please contact us for further details if it is a concern.

?GASCON SAFARI TENT – Sleeps 6
Light and airy with touches of France, Gascon is an idyllic place to spend your holiday. There is plenty of room to bring the grandparents and children. Situated halfway up a rolling wild-flower meadow with stunning views across the Dorset countryside is furnished with

GROUP BOOKINGS
If you’re planning a family get-together or a reunion of friends, why not book all three of our tents? By booking the whole site you can guarantee an idyllic escape with no interruptions. The three tents sleep 16 (two kingsize beds, three doubles and six singles) giving ample space for large groups. Each tent has its own firepit, kitchen and bathroom in addition to space to relax beside the wood-fired oven.

?Along with booking the tents, you will also have the use of the Straw Bothy and Chuck Wagon which make communal dining beautifully straightforward. What better way to enjoy time with friends than sat around a campfire, toasting marshmallows and reminiscing? Or strolling through the countryside with dogs and children running around together?

THE STRAW BOTHY – For Groups
Made from straw bales, this heavenly building was featured on George Clarke’s Shed of the Year 2017. This elegant building is organic and authentic in both design and intention.

The Bothy is ideal for family gatherings, communal activities or classes. It is fitted with a large wood-burner to keep the space toasty warm and a cabinet full of crockery and cutlery for entertaining up to 20 people. The Bothy shares a beautiful flat meadow with Mukota, making it easily accessible from the carpark.

To add to the rural scene, we have built a ‘Chuck Wagon’ which is located across a small bridge from the Bothy. The wagon contains a WC and a small kitchen, allowing you to host a meal with ease.
