Glamping Devon

The Flete Estate in South Devon is the most spectacular setting for a glamping holiday by the sea. In an AONB, Heritage coast and Site of Special Scientific Interest the Estate is alive with wonderful wild flowers, birds and animals. Offering glamping in Bell Tents and self catering cottages, most accommodation is within 10 minutes walk of the unspoilt Erme estuary, with its sandy beaches, gentle surf and the South West Coastal footpath. Enjoy walking, messing about in boats, paddling on the water, strolling in the woods along the 7 miles of private drives, bird watching, fishing and star gazing without even leaving the Estate.

The Flete Estate is a gorgeous place to spend a few days. You can alternate between seeking out the many sandy beaches for which the bell tents are named.

POP UP SUMMER GLAMPING SITE
We have 6 identical two person bell tents, just for adults, in a nine-acre field just 5 minutes walk from the secluded Pamflete Beach.

Each tent has it’s own

Use of three hot showers

A cool kitchen housed in a converted horsebox, with four gas hobs and all the cutlery and crockery you need

LOCAL AREA
Twenty minutes away on foot you’ll find superb seafood at The Schoolhouse in Mothecombe and a forty-five minute walk will take you to a lovely local in the village of Holbeton and the Mildmay Colours pub. You could hit the coastal path or paddle board inland on the incoming tide, all the while keeping your eyes out for the ospreys, curlews and aven sea eagles which have been know to visit the unspoiled environment which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Marine Conservation zone.

BEACHES ON THE FLEET ESTATE
We have three stunning sandy beaches, for you to enjoy and explore. The beaches remain undeveloped since the 19th Century, with the only buildings being an old boathouse, a Victorian beach house and a lime kiln or two. With sand perfect for sunbathing and castle building, rock pools for exploring and gentle waves for body boarding, they provide all you need for a day on the beach!

MOTHECOMBE GARDENS
Mothecombe House and Gardens are situated above Mothecombe beach, at the mouth of the Erme estuary on the Flete Estate. They are tucked under one side of a valley running down to the beach and several degrees warmer than the village of Holbeton, two miles inland. The gardens are sheltered from the prevailing south westerly salt laden winds, allowing tender plants to flourish.

Overlooking the whole garden is Mothecombe House, is Queen Anne house with additions by Sir Edwin Lutyens. On the south front there is a walled garden with Lutyens Terraces planted with wisteria, irises and agapanthus, and a lawn with herbaceous borders and much more to explore.
