Probably one of the best located sites in England, Jollydays Glamping is the original and authentic woodland camp – it has inspired hundreds of copycat businesses since its launch in 2008, but none have come close to recreating the magic of this unique woodland camp. This is a forest holiday with a difference, nestled into a stunning 200 acre woodland, but super close to the historic city of York. 15 large safari style tents are privately located in their own slice of woodland, with private verandas, wood burners and their own bathrooms inside the tent and they’re big enough to sleep 6 in comfort.

This camp is not just about the accommodation (although that is lovely and comfy), this is about the beautiful woods, getting back to nature and simpler times, spending time catching up with friends and family – for kids it’s a paradise and a fantastic place to wean them off their screens! 200 acres of magical woodland surrounds the glamping site, which can only be accessed by one small private road.

The woods are brimming with wildlife and the dawn chorus is something to behold, build a den or watch the stars around the campfire – this Saxon woodland is only a couple of minutes’ drive from the historical village of Stamford Bridge, or 15 minutes to the York park and ride.

The Multi Award Winning camp was set up by design couple Carolyn and Christian Van Outersterp who’d previously masterminded London’s stylish restaurant bar and discreet celebrity hang out CVO Firevault… Jollydays is the culmination of the Van Outersterp s dream to combine a love of camping and stylish accommodation – it’s an extension of their simplified lifestyle – beautiful surrounding, great food and socialising around a roaring log fire.

Exciting developments for next season include a stylish café bar, with great coffee and tasty local produce, there will also be a new, small visitor attraction for children and adults alike, in the nearby stretch of woods. This stunning, rustic fairy sanctuary, will be the first of its kind in the UK and as well as the woodland trail, it will have fairy museum, with the largest collection of fairy artefacts in the world. It is open to day visitors but best of all, Jollydays guests get to visit it for free.

LODGE TENTS

• Sleeps: 6 (four poster + 2 singles + 2 single sofa beds, all bedding included.)

Inside this shabby-chic style tent, contains everything you need for glamping. It has a wood burning stove, instant hot running water and hot water bottles. For a variety of ways to cook we provide a BBQ outside and 2 gas rings inside – perfect for those bacon butties on a morning. The beds are ideal for a family, with a king-size bed for the parents and singles beds and sofa bed for the children. Groups fit in well too, with the birthday girl/ hen getting the fancy bed and the gang getting the rest! The veranda is a great place to just sit back, relax and have a cold beer. With its massive size this tent is perfect for those parties or family gatherings.

Our fabulous woodcutters huts are like a shepherds hut but at a spacious 6 metres by 3 metres are a lot bigger! These cosy, insulated huts are double glazed and are decked out in cosy tweed. The perfect woodland retreat if you’re looking for more cosiness than a traditional tent. These comfortable huts are perfect for a romantic retreat or for families with young children. With its huge awning it has excellent barbequing conditions all year round, so there’s no excuse about rain! Those staying in the woodland huts have access to the shower and toilet block. Our individual shower sheds each have their own boiler and are instantly hot and powerful.

Inside this vintage style tent you’ll find everything you need for a glamping holiday with us. Ideal both for families and adult groups to enjoy an escape weekend, (don’t worry we separate the two, with school holidays reserved for families and couples), we even offer 25% off for couples, if you want a bit more space.

Similar to the lodge tent this has a large wood burning stove, instant hot running water and hot water bottles. We provide a BBQ and 4 gas ring hobs to help you with the cooking. Or indulge and head to our new café bar (opens late spring 2019). There is a bathroom cabin inside the tent with a toilet, shower over the roll-top bath, to relax and enjoy the birdsong.
A kitchen cabin is inside the tent too! With a kitchen sink, electric light, all crockery and utensils, and a fridge to chill a bottle when you arrive! The veranda outside has a seating area for eating alfresco and an extra space with awning overhead to BBQ. Finally there is a large dining and living space to have a candlelit dinner and relaxing space on the sofa, all surrounding that big wood burning stove.

SO WHAT DO I TAKE TO JOLLYDAYS?
We try to provide as much as we can but you will need toiletries, towels, food, outdoor clothing and a torch (its pitch black at night in the woods). In regards to food, you can bring your own, or book a meal at our new café bar (pre-booking essential). It’s only 15 minutes’ walk to shops and York is 20 minutes’ drive.

SUPPLIES
When you arrive at camp you are given an allocation of, tea lights, firelighters, and matches, we have a log store onsite where you can get wood and charcoal. During cold weather you will have to wrap up warm, preferably in layers, and don’t forget your wellies!

FOOD
Bring your own or pick up supplies at our local farm shop (5 minutes’ drive), or we have a stunning new café / bar opening in late spring 2019, using delicious local produce.

DIY FOOD
If you do want to bring your own food, or else get food delivered to the camp, either (Sainsbury’s and Asda deliver to the camp which helps increase car boot space!) cook by BBQ, kitchen hobs or in our clay oven on site. Guests have a lot of fun creating their own pizzas and once the clay oven has heated up, it will cook food in a matter of minutes!

FOR FAMILIES
Jollydays is a fabulous place to visit with kids, there is something special about spending time in nature and the woods have a magic all of their own. We deliberately keep things simple – our “entertainment complex” consists of a wooden Wendy house and a couple of rope swings! However new for 2019 is Northwood Trail – England’s first fairy sanctuary, with a magical fairywood and enchanting fairy museum – with the largest collection of fairy artefacts in the world – perfect for grown-ups as well as kids!

GROUPS
We’ve hosted hundreds of groups over the years and Jollydays is the most idyllic place to celebrate – it feels like we are deep in the wilds, but we’re just a short hop from the incredible city of York – with all its many and varied charms. We can accommodate groups as small as 6 and as large as 100! Like most glamping sites we do have restrictions in school holidays, however if you are stuck with holiday dates, please check out our sister woodland camp www.northstarclub.co.uk which has no such restrictions.

SAVINGS – When a booking is paid in full at the time of booking, (a full 5+ months in advance) are entitled to a 10% Early bird discount.

Prices include: Bedding, dining facilities and utensils, loo roll, washing up liquid and cloths, tea lights, high chairs and cots (on request + if available), BBQ, gas hobs, Your own shower and toilet (for lodge and woodland tents).

We can provide towels, at an additional ￡2 per towel.

All tents sit on raised wooden decks 10.5m x 7m, a whopping 75m 2 (807 sq ft). No tent is closer than 15m from the next tent making Jollydays an exclusive low density camp.
Please Note…
The landowner won’t allow dogs in the woodlands due to wildlife (except for guide dogs)
We only accept one night bookings on a Sunday – or last minute if we have space.
The price does not include, cancellation insurance, food, bike hire, and laundry of personal clothes.
We price per tent irrespective of the guests of people staying in it – unless it is just 2 people in which case a discount of 25% is offered.
