A glamping break in Cornwall like no other… step away from the hustle and bustle of your life, and come and relax in a stunning part of Cornwall and realise what life should really be all about! Mill Valley is based in a beautiful part of Cornwall, we offer our visitors a unique chance to experience a holiday in a Yurt or a Shepherds Hut. We have tried to make Mill Valley as eco friendly and carbon neutral as possible. We have 5 composting toilets/tree bogs and in a small log cabin you will find 2 bathrooms each with there own roll top bath, supplied with the water from our own bore hole which is heated by lighting and tending to a wood burning stove!…
There is NO Sky TV, hard standings, concrete shower blocks, electrical hook-ups, social clubs, games rooms and redcoats… What we do have is ….. Peace, tranquility, green fields and rolling hills. A river and a watermill we are restoring, walks through natural bluebell woods, birdsong & clean air. Nearby on our working smallholding we have some cows and sometimes some chickens, ducks, guinea fowl and pigs depending on the time of year. There are fish in the clean river, and a stone bridge to sit on…If your lucky you may see an otter or Kingfisher down by the weir…need we say more?!
You are welcome to wonder down through the woods and when we have them (usually during Spring and Summer) visit the animals on our smallholding – they are always happy to see people – especially if you take them some snacks! We are surrounded by tranquil riverside walks through natural bluebell woods and a little stone bridge to sit on and watch for the local wildlife… Dogs are very welcome to come along and take advantage of the nearby walks.
We are extremely enthusiastic about “Mill Valley” and the stunning area that we live in and would live to share this with you…
THE ELM TREE YURT
This is our newest and by far the largest Yurt we have at Mill Valley and we are very proud of it!!. It has a 20ft diameter, extra high walls and a clear crown cover to give you a lovely light and airy feeling of space. Whilst it is still a ‘camping’ experience it is more of a home from home! We have furnished this Yurt in a ‘Morroccan’ style, decorated in warm colours and furnishings with brightly coloured Morroccan lanterns and pouffes.
“Elm Tree” Yurt has a double bed, 2 single stacking beds (to save space) and a double futon. It also has a dining area with dining table and chairs and a wood burning stove for cooking on and keeping you warm! The Yurt is situated on a level decked area and inside has a gorgeous reclaimed elm floor…it also has a small canvas porch outside the door where you can store your wellies!!. From the door of the Yurt you have a stunning view over the neighbouring fields and woodland.
THE ACORN YURT
Acorn Yurt This Yurt has an 18ft diameter, steam bent roof poles and a huge crown which makes it pretty amazing…”Acorn Yurt” will sleep up to 6 people, it has a double bed and two double futons. The Yurt is situated on a deck with lovely views across the surrounding countryside. If it’s a bit chilly or “sunny Cornwall” isn’t so sunny then the wood burner makes the Yurt so cosy you won’t want to leave!…”Acorn Yurt” also has it’s own small outdoor undercover area with a BBQ and fire pit..and it’s own composting loo.
THE BEECH TREE YURT
The “Beech Tree Yurt” – This is our 16ft Yurt, again it is steam bent so you get a lot extra height and greater feeling of space…It is also fully felt insulated so is the perfect choice for Winter breaks. This Yurt will sleep 4 people on a double bed and 2 single futons and the “Beech Tree Yurt” has a wood burning stove to keep you warm and a clear crown cover so you can look up at the stars at night!…It has double stable doors which look down over Mill Valley…in the morning you can see the other Yurts appear through the mist! The “Beech Tree Yurt” has a BBQ and fire pit…and it’s own composting toilet.
THE ROMANTIC YURT
The “Romantic Yurt” – This is our ‘couples’ Yurt!…It is a steam bent Yurt 14ft in diameter. The Romantic Yurt is fully furnished…it has a wood burning stove and a large handmade (by Neil) double bed covered in comfy cushions and sheepskins… Surrounding the Yurt is its own establishing garden of fruit trees, berries and herbs…the garden has it’s own ‘mini’ cruck framed undercover area with BBQ and a fire pit. It also has it’s own “Romantic” toilet!!… And best of all, a hammock to while away the hours.
THE SHEPHERDS HUT
The “Shepherds Hut” – Our traditional style “Shepherds Hut” is what would have been used by Shepherds during the raising and lambing of there flocks of sheep…a bit of a 19th century version of a caravan…It has iron wheels and corrugated roof & sides…Fully insulated it stays cool in Shepherds HutSummer and with the fire going in the chillier months keeps lovely and warm…Perfect for 2 people, the “Shepherds Hut” is fully furnished, has a double bed, small wood burning stove and a double gas hob/grill so you can cook easily inside…It has 2 opening windows and a stable door which has a lovely view over “Mill Valley”… You also have your own “Shepherds” toilet.
THE WOODLAND CABIN
Come and relax in our rustic handmade wooden cabin for two…It has been lovingly created using local and reclaimed material. “Woodland Cabin” has a local douglas fir and reclaimed oak timber frame and a cedar shingle roof and is situated on the edge of our ancient oak woodland.
Entering the cabin from it’s own garden area there is a porch or “mud room” where you can hang your coat, leave your boots and dry any dirty paws! There is also a small bathroom with a simple “bucket & chuck-it” loo and wash basin with running water. The cabin also has the use of it’s own outdoor composting toilet just a short walk away. The main part of the cabin with it’s high ceiling and exposed oak beams is spacious, full of character and has everything you need for your stay. Windows on all sides makes the cabin light and airy and means that you can take advantage of the woodland views. The cabin has a handmade kitchen area complete with sink, running water and solar lighting.
The Cabin is heated by a large bespoke wood burner which is fitted with a stainless steel water tank so you can have warm water whilst the fire is lit. Next to the wood burner is a cosy corner where you can put your feet up and chill out on the leather sofa and take in all the handcrafted details of the cabin. The bedroom is situated on a mezzanine level which is reached by a chunky wooden ladder…fall asleep listening to the tawny owls and the peaceful sound of the weir below…
Back downstairs there is a huge stable door at the side of the cabin which opens up onto it’s own private decked area which overlooks the stunning woodland…the perfect place for a cup of tea in the morning or a cheeky glass of wine in the evening… The Woodland Cabin is a magical escape in this beautiful Cornish valley!
