Glamping Kent with Hot Tub

The Nut Plat Retreat offers glamping with hot tub in Kent in two bijou and boutique Living Vans, less than an hour from the centre of London. It’s a holiday home from home for those who relish the idea of sleeping in the Great British Countryside. Each Living Van is set in its own private space here in the beautiful Kent countryside. Kent is known as the Garden of England for good reason and The Nut Plat in Roughway is a historic orchard of ancient cob nut trees. We think the hamlet of Roughway is unique, you can hardly hear a car let alone a train and you rarely ever hear an aeroplane. Running alongside the River Bourne, the Nut Plat is on the edge of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our own orphan lambs help keep the grass down by grazing the plat and we keep chickens here too. We also have horses and cattle on our land on the other side of Roughway Lane which visitors are welcome to say hello to.

OUR LIVING VANS
Our two lovingly restored historic living vans, Ransoms and Bomford, are kitted out to satisfy all your needs for a comfortable weekend (or longer!) break. The pull out bed is just over 6’2″ long and 5′ wide and you’ll love the cosy feather duvet and pillows. During the day, all the bedding tucks away into cedar drawers and the bed becomes a comfy couch or day bed. The oak table gives space to eat or play scrabble and there’s a woodburning stove in the corner should the evenings draw in. Whilst this is camping, we want it to be the most relaxing camping you’ll ever experience. The only neighbours you’ll have here are our pet lambs.

SAFARI KITCHEN
Our safari kitchen has a two ring gas hob, a cool box to keep your food in as well as essential salt, pepper and oil and of course a bottle opener!

FACILITIES
Outside you’ve all your own glamping facilities, from the compost loo and shower room.

HOT TUBS
Both sites have hot tubs and are available as an additional extra at ￡20 per night

THE LOCAL AREA
Less than an hour from the centre of London, the Nut Plat retreat is truly in the Garden of england with Royal Tunbridge Wells 40 minutes away and the market towns of Sevenoaks and West Malling less than half an hour. The best way to enjoy the rural idyll is to just kick back and relax on the banks of the river Bourne which borders your own patch of paradise.

If you’re feeling energetic, the Greensand Way is a delightful footpath running, as it’s name suggests, along the greensand way, a generally dry route across the county. There are very many other footpaths in the locality and we can recommend several circular routes from the Retreat. The local pub is a five minute walk away, with two others a brisk half hour away and a third less than a mile away.

If visiting country houses is your thing, we’ve Knole House at Sevenoaks, Ightham Mote and Penshurst place nearby and further afield are the lovely gardens at Sissinghurst or Pashley manor.
