Glamping at Featherdown Farms Wambrook Farm, Somerset is based around a listed farmhouse in a village on the Somerset Devon border and near Dorset in the lovely countryside of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a mixed organic farm with sheep that lamb in the spring, beef cattle and a wheat and barley crops. Sedum matting for green roofs is also grown – an inspiring new direction. The farmhouse, stables and buildings are all listed, built mid. 1800, and feature a granary in the yard that looks like a chapel and has an old counting house inside where the farm workers received their pay. From the past into the future, Wambrook also includes a solar farm at another location nearby.
You can relax by the Featherdown tent on your glamping holiday in lovely surroundings next to a piece of woodland where children can play. Well-behaved dogs can also come, by arrangement. And then there are the cute animals in the field with the tents in, plus a garden to sit in or play badminton. You can stock up at the honesty shop to keep you going. Or wander down to a pub in the village 1 mile away, a charming walk, and excellent food at your destination. Many more pubs and restaurants are to be found in the vicinity.
Further afield, there is much to discover: Forde Abbey and gardens, Haynes Motor Museum, Fleet Air Museum, Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park, Crealy Adventure Park, Montacute House and Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. National trust properties and Jurassic coast within easy reach. On the other hand, stay right where you are: glamping Somerset in a quiet village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
